from all countries, regi<strong>on</strong>s and socio-ec<strong>on</strong>omic<br />

backgrounds agreed that more should be<br />

d<strong>on</strong>e by governments. Moreover, the survey<br />

showed that the sceptical attitudes which prevailed<br />

am<strong>on</strong>g some groups <strong>on</strong> the facts and causes<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> climate change, either denying it entirely or<br />

limiting it to natural causes, are receding.<br />

II. DESCRIPTION AND BACKGROUND<br />

The survey <strong>on</strong> public attitudes in the <strong>Arab</strong> countries<br />

pertaining to climate change was organized<br />

by AFED, as part <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> its 2009 expert annual<br />

report <strong>on</strong> the impact <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> climate change <strong>on</strong> the<br />

<strong>Arab</strong> regi<strong>on</strong>. The survey was c<strong>on</strong>ducted between<br />

February-May 2009, <strong>on</strong> a voluntary basis and
