Herring, grains, and coffee is
important goods at this time.
Probably because they did not
vary the diet that much and
also cultivated other necessary
commodities themselves. Furthermore,
the war limited the possibilities to import
alternative raw materials.
Purchasing power has increased
tremendously
In 1920 a clerk a salary of
approximately 92 SEK in week
(Lagerqvist L & Nathorst-Boos
E,1984), made it possible for him to
buy half a costume, or 14 kg of butter.
But then would unfortunately not have
any money over for other things.
1945 a food worker earned 75 SEK a
week. For that he could buy almost a
whole jacket or 14 kg of coffee.
1960 a male industrial worker in the
wooden industry approximately
earned 120 SEK a week, which he
could use to buy six nylon shirts or 10
kg ham.
In 1974 a color television set costed
about the same money as today,
although they were significantly less
advanced.
