There was rationing on a many
goods, such as bread, grains,
coffee, meat, salt, sugar, rice, eggs,
macaroni, textiles, detergents and
tobacco.
Rationing meant that consumers
had to submit a voucher for a
specific product in order to be
allowed to buy it. The coupons
were distributed by the state. To
the left and below shows a
"calendar" in which it described
which coupons were for what and
how long they were valid. The
purpose of the system was to
provide an equitable distribution of
the few supplies that were
available.
