Jämtlandstidningen, 1945
Jämtlandstidningen had at this
time a circulation of about 4600
papers / day (Jonsson S, 1982).
Thus a relatively small magazine
and it had no spread beyond
Östersund.
Building material and
services
Clothes
Food
It appears, judging from the ads, that
there are difficult times. The more luxury
products, such as candy, has almost
disappeared. And many of the ads
comes from the paper itself (which
explains the high proportion of
advertisements for journals & books). It
can be noted that the there are some ads
for casual wear and leisure products, a
trend that appear to have began shortly
before the war. But on the other hand
Östersund and Jämtland areas where
skiing long been very popular in winter/
spring.
Below, one of the few ads for sweets.
A brand new product in the columns are
condoms, they are often sold with
health arguments (avoid venerial
deseases). They are actually
now the bulk of the relatively few
advertisements for health products.
