Die „Außenwirtschaft Austria“ der Wirtschaftskammer Österreich organisiert
heuer bereits zum fünften Mal die MIT Europe Conference und bringt hochkarätige
Forscher des Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) nach Wien.
The “Außenwirtschaft Austria” (Foreign Trade Austria) from the Chamber of
Commerce Austria organises the MIT Europe Conference this year for the
fifth time, bringing top-level researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology (MIT) to Vienna.
Vom 25. bis 26. März 2015 ist die Forschungselite
des weltbekannten Massachusetts
Institute of Technology (MIT) wieder in der
Wirtschaftskammer Österreich versammelt und
trifft dort auf Interessierte aus Wissenschaft, Forschung
und Wirtschaft. Dr. Walter Koren, Leiter der
„Außenwirtschaft Austria“, dazu: „Die österreichischen
Unternehmen und ihre Entwickler schätzen
den Dialog mit den Spitzenforschern und holen sich
bei der MIT Conference wichtige Impulse für ihre
tägliche Arbeit.“
Das MIT gilt als eine der weltweit führenden
Institutionen im Bereich von technologischer Forschung
und Lehre. Bei der diesjährigen Konferenz
dreht sich alles um das Thema „Minds, Machines &
Management“. Die englischsprachige Veranstaltung
kann mit einer Reihe prominenter Redner aus der
US-Kaderschmiede punkten.
Neben dem berühmten Informatiker Tomaso
Poggio, Nicholas Roy, Michale Schrage, John
Cipplinger, George Westerman und vielen anderen
wird auch Caleb Harper am Podium stehen. Er hat
eine höchst interessante Vision für die Landwirtschaft
und Nahrungsmittelproduktion. Auf seiner
CityFarm am MIT Media Lab werden Pflanzen nicht
in den Boden eingesetzt, sondern über die Luft ernährt.
Mittels dieses aeroponischen Systems gelingt
es dem Forscher, Obst- und Gemüsepflanzen bis zu
viermal schneller aufzuziehen als in der traditionellen
Landwirtschaft. Sein Verfahren verspricht die
Landwirtschaft zu revolutionieren. Bei der Konferenz
in Wien wird er erklären, wie die auf der
CityFarm angewandte Methode in Zukunft den klassischen
Pflanzenanbau ablösen könnte.
From the 25th to 26th of March 2015, the research
elite of the world-renowned Massachusetts
Institute of Technology (MIT) is reassembled
in the Chamber of Commerce Austria, where it
meets those interested in science, research and economics.
Dr. Walter Koren, head of the “Außenwirtschaft
Austria” commented: “Austrian companies
and their developers appreciate the dialogue with
senior researchers and pick up important impetus
for their daily work at the MIT Conference.”
The MIT is one of the world’s leading institutions
in the field of technological research and teaching.
At this year’s conference, it’s all about the topic
“Minds, Machines & Management”. The Englishlanguage
event scores with a number of prominent
speakers from the US elite university.
Besides the famous computer scientist Tomaso
Poggio, Nicholas Roy, Michale Schrage, John Cipplinger,
George Westerman and many others, Caleb
Harper will also take a stand at the podium. He has a
very interesting vision for agriculture and food production.
On his City Farm at the MIT Media Lab
plants are not planted in the ground, but fed through
the air. Using this aeroponic system, the researcher
manages to grow fruit and vegetable plants four
times faster than in traditional agriculture. His method
promises to revolutionise
agriculture. At the conference
in Vienna, he will
explain how the methodology
applied to the City
Farm could replace traditional
crop production in the
future.
