Your sick pay will be based on your contractual pay on the first day of
incapacity.
Any College sick pay paid to you will include your SSP entitlement.
If your absence is due to an accident or condition in respect of which you
may claim damages from a third party for loss of earnings, you must, if
practicable, make such a claim. Any College sick pay which you have
received in respect of your absence will then be treated as a loan which
you must repay to the College if you are successful in recovering the
damages.
At our discretion, if you are sick for seven or more days while on holiday,
provided you submit a Doctor's Certificate to the Human Resources
Officer, you may be allowed to treat all or part of your absence as sick
leave rather than as holiday.
The College may, at its expense, require you to be examined by an
independent medical practitioner of the College's choice at any time
(whether or not you are absent by reason of sickness or injury at the time)
in order to obtain a medical report on your health .
Any such requests made to you will be in accordance with the rules
contained in the Access to Medical Records Act 1988. This gives you the
right to:

Refuse your consent to the College’s request to contact your doctor.
To see the doctor’s report at the same time as it is sent to the College.
To see the doctor’s report before it is sent to the College, and if you
exercise this right, you may request that the doctor amends the report or
you may refuse to allow the report to be sent to the College. The doctor
can refuse to make any alterations, or may refuse to let you see the report
if in his or her opinion it is likely to adversely affect your mental or
physical health.
