TERMS & CONDITIONS
INFORMAL DISCUSSION
You are encouraged to raise any complaints informally with your
Supervising College Officer or Head of Department. Both parties should
attempt to resolve the problem.
Stage 1
If the complaint remains unresolved, you should put this in writing if
possible (or orally if this is not possible) to your Supervising College
Officer or Head of Department, providing brief details of your complaint
and requesting that the matter be formally dealt with through the
Grievance Procedure. If your grievance is in relation to your Supervising
College Officer or Head of Department, you may prefer to address your
complaint to the Bursar or to the appropriate College Committee.
Your grievance will be fully investigated, and a meeting will be arranged at
a reasonable time and location to report and discuss the investigator’s
findings and proposals. You must take all reasonable steps to attend this
meeting. The findings and proposals will then be confirmed in writing
within five working days.

If you are not satisfied with the outcome of Stage 1, you may within 14
days of receipt of the decision submit a request to the Master (in writing if
possible, or orally if not possible) to take your grievance to Stage 2 of the
procedure. You will then be invited to attend a meeting at a reasonable
time and location with the Master (or such person or persons as he may
appoint to act in his place), together with either your College Supervising
Officer or Head of Department. You must take all reasonable steps to
attend this meeting. Your grievance will be fully discussed, and a decision
will be reached and communicated to you in writing within five working
days.
