The Second Resolutionon Wrong Interpretationof Surah Al-IkhlasAll Praise be to Almighty Allah.Blessing and peace be on His Prophet Muhammadafter whom there is no prophet, and on all thosewho followed his way of guidance.The Islamic Fiqh Council in its session held on Monday 10 thRabi Al-Aakhir 1403H examined the strange and objectionablearticle published by the Kuwaiti newspaper, Al-Siyasah in itsIssue No. 4776 dated Thursday 17 Dhul Hijjah 1401H (15October 1981) under a misleading headline (Meaning ofTawheed: Literal Interpretation of Surah Al-Ikhlas and ItsEnglish Translation) signed by a person called : MuhammadAhmad Al-Shimali, who in his article had audacity to play withthe meanings of the Glorious Qur’an and bring out a strange mixof ignorance, imagination and distorted notions, which do notreflect except his mental disorder, as he claims that it is aninterpretation of Surah Al-Ikhlas.This new interpreter begins his interpretation of Surah Al-Ikhlas, by saying: ‘Qul’ is a predicate which has been advancedto mean that there is a person before the word ‘Qul’. ‘Huwa’ ispronoun of a subject that comes later to mean that God has madethe person alone.In this way, the misguided man goes on interpreting theremaining verses of Surah Ikhlas.The Islamic Fiqh Council is of the view that it is not strangethat among the mentally disturbed persons, there are those whoconsider themselves scholars and thinkers, which is a kind of153
