The Fifth Resolutionon Benefitting from Zakah Moneyfor Building Schools and Hospitals andEstablishment of Zakah Fundin European CountriesAll praise be to Almighty Allah.Blessing and peace be on His Prophet Muhammadafter whom there is no prophet, and on all thosewho followed his way of guidance.The Islamic Fiqh Council during its 9 th session held inMakkah Mukarramah between 12-19 Rajab 1406H looked intothe recommendation adopted by the Fiqh Research Academy ofEurope, an affiliate body of the World Supreme Council ofMosques and referred to it by Deputy Chairman, Islamic FiqhCouncil regarding the possibility of benefitting from the moneyof Zakah for the construction of schools and hospitals in theEuropean Countries.After listening to the speeches of its members and theirdiscussions, the Council decided to reaffirm its resolution of the8 th session which stated that Islamic Da’wah as well as theactivities which supports it, are considered under the provision ofFi Sabeelillah (in the Cause of Allah). It is one of eight fundsclearly mentioned in the Qur’an, (9:60) on the basis of argumentthat Jihad in Islam is not confined to the fighting only, but it alsoincludes striving with Da’wah, conveying the message of Islamand forbearing its difficulties. Almighty Allah says addressingHis Messenger (peace be upon him) about the Qur’an:“Therefore listen not to the Unbelievers, but strive against themwith the utmost strenousness with it (Qur’an).” (Qur’an, 25:52)249
