Allah sent him as a mercy to all the worlds and designated him asbearer of glad tidings and warner as well as caller to His way.Almighty raised his name and elevated his rank. He blessed himand commanded the Believers to pray for his blessing. He is theleader of Adam’s children and the possessor of MaqaamMahmood (praised status).It is obligatory for Muslims to respect and honour him, andglorify his position which he deserves. Any improper treatmentor contempt of his person is considered as Kufr (infidelity) andapostasy from Islam.To imagine his noble person through pictures whether theyare moving or instant, with physique and shade or withoutphysiques and shade, each one is Haraam (prohibited) and notpermissible in the Islamic Shari’ah. It is not lawful at all to makesuch pictures and approve them for any purpose or aim whateverit may be, and if its aim is contempt, then it is blasphemySince it is a mischief of grave consequences, it is the duty ofthe concerned governments, authorities, ministries of informationand media institutions to prohibit the portrayal of ProphetMuhammad (peace be upon him) in any kind of picture forstories, children’s books, novels, theatres, films, televisions,cinema and other information media. It is compulsory to preventsuch a practice and destroy any such thing that is found.Similarly, it is forbidden in the case of Sahabah (theprophet’s companions), as they had the honour of the Prophet’scompany and Jihad with him for the defence of Islam as well asfor the support of Allah, His Messenger and His religion. It isthey who transmitted this religion and its knowledge to us, hence,it is obligatory to honour and dignify them.226
