Report of the CommitteeAssigned to Draft the Resolutionof the Islamic Fiqh Council on InsuranceOn the basis of resolution adopted by the Islamic FiqhCouncil in its session held on Wednesday 14 Sha’ban 1398H toassign each of Sheikh Abdul Aziz Ibn Baz, Sheikh MuhammadMahmood Al-Sawwaf and Sheikh Muhammad Ibn Abdullah Al-Subaiel to draft the resolution of the Council on insurance withits various kinds and forms.The afore-said committee held its meeting and afterdeliberation, it adopted the following:All Praise be to Almighty Allah.Blessing and peace be on His Prophet Muhammadafter whom there is no prophet, and on all thosewho followed his way of guidance.The Islamic Fiqh Council during its 1 st session held at theheadquarters of the Muslim World League in MakkahMukarramah, Saudi Arabia between 10-17 Sha’ban 1398Hlooked into the issue of insurance with its various kinds, afterhaving been acquainted with many Muslim scholars’ writings inthis regard and also, having been acquainted with the resolutionNo. 55 adopted by the Senior Scholars’ Council of Saudi Arabiaduring its 10 th session held in Riyadh on 4 Rabi Al-Aakhir 1397Habout the prohibition of the commercial insurance with itsvarious kinds.After the detailed study and full deliberation, the Councilalmost unanimously and with the exception of Sheikh MustafaAl-Zarqa, decided to prohibit the commercial insurance with itsvarious kinds, whether it is related to life, the commercial goodsor some other kinds for the following reasons:44
