DEPARTMENT OF INDUStry SERVICESThe Department ofIndustry Services (DIS)plays a pivotal rolein fulfilling <strong>Singapore</strong><strong>Polytechnic</strong>’s (SP)corporate goals especiallyin achieving excellence ineducation and training.DIS believes in providinga holistic approach to thestudents’ learning journeythrough the IndustrialTraining Programme,Consultancy work andEntrepreneurship.INDUSTRY SERVICES CENTREThe role of the Centre is to bridge theinteraction between industry and students.It administers programmes which bring therealism of industry into the campus.The services provided by the Centre are asfollows:1. It provides administrative support forthe Industrial Training Programme (ITP)where students are attached to local oroverseas enterprises for not less than 6weeks. The ITP provides opportunitiesfor students to practise what they havelearnt and also to expose them to arealistic working environment.2. It provides assistance in sourcing industrysponsoredprojects for final-year students.CONSULTANCY &ENTREPRENEURSHIP CENTRESThe Consultancy & EntrepreneurshipCentres at DIS provides a platform to nurtureCreativity, Innovation and Enterprise for staffand students.The Consultancy Centre serves as a one-stopcontact point for small and medium localenterprises to explore the various kinds ofservices provided by the SP which can helpto promote their technological and businessdevelopment. It provides consultancy andtesting services to the industry tapping on staffexpertise and facilities of the <strong>Polytechnic</strong>.The Enterprise Centre organisesentrepreneurship activities in SP, with the aimof nurturing the entrepreneurial learning andventure creation among the SP community. Itmanages two seed funding programmes tojumpstart promising start-ups from SP.These include Young Entrepreneurs Schemefor Start-ups (YES! Start-ups) by SPRING<strong>Singapore</strong> and the SP Innovation, Creativityand Enterprise Fund for Students (SPICES).Through the entrepreneurship education andsupport, Enterprise Centre aims to developthe students' fullest potential in leadership,teamwork, organising ability, physical andsocial well-being.INNOVILLAGE@SPInnoVillage at SP is a research andinnovation hub that brings together aneco system of students, academia andindustry to exploit the latest technologiesin the incubation of products and services.It leverages on this eco system to incubatebusiness, test prototypes and transformthem into real products.InnoVillage showcases SP’s commitmentto sustainable development and energyefficiency.
