BE6201Environmental Management &SustainabilityDescribes sustainability and its role in theoverall business strategy of an organisation.This module covers utilities management,energy savings initiatives and techniques,building automation, developing sustainablebuildings, green building technologies, wastecontrol and reduction.BE6202Accounts & FinanceGives students an understanding of the basicconcepts and principles of accounting. Typesof business organisations, preparation andinterpretation of balance sheet and profit &loss statement, basic financial ratio analysis,sources of finance, cash flow analysis andbudget & variance will also be taught.BE6203Building Services IIEquips students with the knowledge ofmechanical & electrical engineering systemsincluding lighting, ventilation, air conditioning,lifts and escalators.BE6204Customer RelationshipManagementGives students the basic skills andunderstanding necessary for effectivecustomer service in hospitality industry.Students will learn the four componentsof Customer Relation Management viz.information, process, technology and people.The module also gives a general overview incross cultural studies.BE6205Property MaintenanceManagementGives students an understanding of propertymaintenance management practice, includingplanning, organisation and execution ofmaintenance work, keeping of records anddocumentation, life cycle costing, estimating& budgeting. The legislations governingmaintenance of properties in <strong>Singapore</strong> willalso be covered.BE6206Rooms Division Operations &ManagementProvides detailed analysis of the policiesand procedures utilised in managing therooms division of a hotel. It outlines themain functions of the rooms division, frontdesk, the engineering and maintenancedepartments, the organisational structure, theduties and responsibilities of key executivesand department heads and the importanceof effective communication between relateddepartments. It also covers the day-todayfunctions of an effective housekeepingdepartment, cleanliness standards,housekeeping procedures, inspecting,cleaning supplies and equipment, includingroles of various parties, duty rosters, checklistand housekeeping supervision. Students willbe taught the methods to manage inventoriesand to control expenses.BE6207Event & Venue ManagementProvides an introduction to event and venuemanagement. In particular, it will cover allthe stages of event management includinginitiation, planning, implementation, stagingthe event and completing the event. Givesstudents an understanding of traditional &non-traditional venues, venue evaluation &selection, space management of event venues,management, maintenance & operation ofvenues and security management.BE6208Building Maintenance TechnologyGives students an understanding of thefactors leading to building deterioration anddefects. It also gives students the ability toidentify common building defects, diagnosetheir cases and understand their respectivepreventive and remedial measures.BE6209Fire Safety ManagementPrepares students for the duties of a FireSafety Manager. It covers the similar contentsof the Fire Safety Manager Course offered bythe SCDF. The principles of fire and fire safetydesign and management will be covered.BE6210Safety, Health & SecurityGives students an understanding ofsafety, health & welfare of workmen at thework place and in particular, in carryingout renovation, refurbishment & facilitiesmanagement work. It also deals with thesources of indoor air pollutions and thecontrol of indoor air quality. The installationand operation of modern building securitysystems, management, planning &deployment of security personnel for thesafety of occupants will also be covered.BE6211Leisure Amenities ManagementGives students an understanding of leisurefacilities and other amenities and theirmaintenance and management. It coversleisure facilities such as external works,club houses, gyms, swimming pools, spas,Jacuzzi, saunas, steam rooms, games rooms,tennis and squash courts, business centre,playgrounds and landscaping gardens.BE6212Public RelationsGives students an understanding of the rolePublic Relations (PR) in the leisure and hotelindustry. There will be focus on the valueaddof public relations to venue owners.Students will learn the context, functions,media relations, traditional and new media,procurement and tools of PR to achievemaximum coverage.BE6301IT for Hotel & Leisure ManagementEquips students with the knowledge of ITapplications used for hospitality industryfor various work processes and operationssuch as room reservation, guest data, roommanagement, housekeeping, front desk,accounting and reporting.BE6302IT for Property FacilitiesManagementIntroduces IT applications for facilitiesmanagement on planning & schedulingprojects, work processes and operations suchas work orders, purchase requests, managingmaintenance tasks and budget control. Italso gives students the understanding ofCAD drawings which will be needed for thesefacilities management IT applications.BE6304Property ManagementGives students an understanding of theapplicable legislations governing themanagement of strata titled propertiesincluding residential, office, retail, industrialand mixed developments. Students will alsolearn the functions of a Town Council in themanagement and maintenance of a publichousing estate.BE6305ProcurementGives students a basic understanding of theselection and purchasing in the hospitalityindustry, equipping students with anunderstanding of procurement and enablingthem to make decisions in their roles asexecutives and managers.BE6306Building & RefurbishmentGives students an understanding of theconstruction of more complex buildingstructures. It covers advanced sub-structureworks such as piled foundations, basementconstruction, retaining structure andtemporary works.
