Class 1 & 2(Deck Officer)Certificate of Competency (CoC)This is a full-time 20-week (5 months) combinedClass 1 & 2 Deck Officers course. It will lead toClass 1 & 2 Certificate of Competency (CoC),issued by the Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) of<strong>Singapore</strong> upon successful completion of writtenexaminations at SMA and oral examinations atMPA. The course meets the requirements of latestSTCW convention and is highly recognised by theinternational shipping industry. This isan on-line application which may be submittedvia MPA <strong>Singapore</strong> website, www.mpa.gov.sg/eservices)Course OutlineOnce you have enrolled, you will receive anemail notifying you of your login details. Useyour login details to log into the site. Click onthe ‘myLearning’ tab in the home page toaccess your courses.Course covers the following Modules, asrequired by STCW regulation:• General Ship Knowledge• Navigation• Coastal Navigation• Meteorology• Mathematics• ScienceMode of AssessmentOn-line assessmentEach course has a ‘Practice Test’ in theassessment section. On completion of thecourse, you can take this sample test torefresh your learning, and to prepare foryour final assessment. This will help youassess your understanding of the course.On submission of the test, you will receive acomplete feedback for the same. This testdoes not have any pass percentage.To complete the program successfully, thestudent has to take a scheduled test for eachcourse. You have to score at least 70% inorder to pass a test.
