This modulealso covers the basic principles of classicalanimation which deal with the conceptsof motion, transformation and timing. It isessential that students taking this modulehave basic knowledge of 3D Studio Maxor completed the Modeling and Photo-Rendering module.ST5058Advanced AuthoringAims to provide students with advancedscripting knowledge in an authoring tool. Theywill be taught Action Scripting fundamentals,followed by usage of built-in objects andcomponents. They will be taught how tocreate an interactive rich media application,making extensive use of Action Scripting. Theywill also have knowledge of implementingclient-server interactivity in the multimediaapplication area. It is essential that studentstaking this module have knowledge of Flash orcompleted the Interactive Authoring module.ST5059Digital VideoAims to equip students with knowledge andskills in digital video production. Studentswill be taught the fundamentals of digitalvideo technology and be able to use anonlinear editing system to create a videofor multimedia application. Students will berequired to create a video presentation basedon specifications provided.ST50602D AnimationAims to introduce students to the basicconcepts involved in 2D animation usingprofessional digital tools. It allows studentsto produce their work entirely digitally andminimizes the need for paper and othertraditional materials. This module introducesthe fundamental techniques and terminologyof classical animation such as timing andspacing, and enables the students to applythese concepts in the production of 2Danimation within the digital realm.ST5061Graphic Design Using ImagingTools 1Students will learn the basic techniques andskills of imaging using Adobe Photoshop.Students will be able to acquire practicalskills in the use of this tool for the purpose ofcreating pages for Web.ST5062Graphic Design Using ImagingTools 2Students will learn the basic techniques andskills of digital illustration using vector basedsoftware such as Adobe Illustrator. They willbe able to create and transform their creativeideas into sophisticated graphics for use inprint and any dynamic media.ST8011IT and E-CommerceProvides participants with an understanding ofinformation technology and E-Commerce.Topics include Internet and WWW, database,various types of electronic commerceapplications, virtual value chain, businessmodels, electronic payment methods,mobile commerce and processes pertaining toelectronic commerce. Participants will beintroduced to the electronic commerceframework and its underlying technologybuilding blocks.ST8012Multimedia Web DesignProvides students with the knowledge andskills in developing effective web pages withmultimedia content. They will be taught howto use various software tools to producemultimedia content for use in web pages,including animation. They will also be taughtvarious principles and guidelines of goodmultimedia web design.ST8014Internet SecurityProvides an understanding of Internetand networking security concepts andissues. It focuses on security controls tosecure E-Commerce web sites and protectelectronic transactions. Participants willbe able to identify the risks, threats andvulnerabilities of the Internet and learn howto defend against security breaches byidentifying effective countermeasures to betaken against identified vulnerabilities.ST8015Electronic Commerce StrategyProvides students with an understandingof critical issues in integrating Internettechnology and characteristics into businessactivities. Students will also learn aboutstrategic frameworks, marketing and channelstrategies, legal, ethical, cultural and socialissues of E-Commerce and the impact of theInternet and the Web on businesses.ST8016Web Applications DevelopmentTeaches techniques and skills requiredin developing web-based applications.The module covers techniques such asJavaServer Pages, JavaBeans, JavaServerPages Tag Library(JSTL) and its integrationwith database.ST8017Web ProgrammingTeaches techniques and skills required forclient-side web programming. Students willlearn to develop effective Web pages usingXHTML and publishing tools and to useJavascripts for client-side development.Students will also learn to use Cascading StyleSheets to maintain consistencies across webpages as well as to manipulate the DHTMLobject model to achieve dynamism inweb pages.ST4011Fundamentals ofWeb Development TechnologyIntroduces the students to the fundamentalsof web development technologies. It providesthe students with the knowledge and skills inusing Web Publishing tool to create effectiveweb pages. Topics covered include Internetand WWW, basic web design principles, webinterface and navigation, HTML, hypertextlinks, fonts, colours, images, tables, framesand forms. It also provides an overview ofother web technology such as Web Client andServer Side programming, Web DevelopmentMethodology and Web DevelopmentPlatforms.
