Students will learn todevelop effective Web pages using XHTML,Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and JQuerysupported with web publishing tools. Theywill learn to write web pages according tothe standards set by the World Wide WebConsortium (W3C) and major steps involved inbuilding a Web site, such as planning, design,development and implementation.ST2217Web Applications DevelopmentIntroduces the techniques and skills requiredfor Web site construction using JavaServerPages(JSP). Students will learn to developdynamic Web pages using JSP and JDBC.The module also guides the students inimplementing a commercial Web site.Students will get to understand and learn howto construct JavaBeans to work with JSP in aWeb-based project.ST2218Interactive Media DevelopmentDesigns to equip students with the knowledgeof good design practice in interactivemultimedia project which incorporates text,animation and images combined with effectivenavigation. Students will use authoringprograms commonly used in the industryfor multimedia presentation. Emphasis willbe placed on the development of interfaceusability, intermediate authoring techniquesand multimedia design skills. Students willhave hands-on experience retrieving dynamicinformation from database as well.ST2219Enterprise Business ProcessesProvides students with broad-basedunderstanding of how basic businessprocesses in the areas of accounting,materials management, procurement,production, sales and services arerepresented within an Enterprise ResourcePlanning (ERP) solution.ST2307Project ManagementAims to provide students with key fundamentalproject management areas with emphasison organizing, planning and scheduling workand provides the information needed toorganize and structure the work on a project.As students progress through their study inschool and into the workforce, these skills willprove to be beneficial to their developmentand growth.ST2311Mobile CommerceAims to give students an introduction to anoverview of mobile commerce, to exposethem to the business models, opportunities,issues, and technology of m-commerce, andto familiarize them with tools for developingm-commerce applications.ST2313Electronic Business ProjectProvides students an opportunity to integrateknowledge, business design methodologiesand technical skills they haveacquired from the course and experienceproblem solving, project management,communication and working as a team todevelop E-Business or M-Commerceapplications. Appropriatetools to aid the process of measurement,collection, analysis and reporting will be usedin the module.ST2316Business AnalyticsAims to teach students how to collate,visualise, analyse and present businessdata to decision makers so as to facilitatescientific and fact-based decision making.Students will be taught how to integrate thedata from across the enterprise and producereports including graphs, charts, groupedsummary reports with drill down capabilityfor analysis. Students will learn to mastersoftware tools, such as those for reportingand data mining, to systematically collatedata from multiple sources, analyse data,mine data, produce reports and present thefindings to management.ST2317EntrepreneurshipProvides students with the basic know-howof planning and starting a business. It coversthe process of creative idea generation,concept development, resource acquiring,operating a business and developing exitstrategies. Various traits/behaviours ofentrepreneurs associated with successfulentrepreneurial performance will beintroduced.ST2501Network SecurityProvides students with a foundation onnetworking protocols, network security,andintrusion detection, hence securing theorganisation’s wired and wireless networkinfrastructure. The topics to be coveredwill include understanding of commoncommunication protocols on the Internet likeTCP/IP, HTTP, FTP, SMTP, as well as securityprotocols like SSL, and IPSEC. It will alsodiscuss network security threats and attacks,designing resilient networks, configuring ofnetwork components like firewall, setting upVirtual Private Network (VPN) and securedwireless connections.ST2502Computer Law andInvestigationExamines the criminal trial process and casesinvolving computer hacking, denial of service,modification of data, distortion and fabricationof information.
