FULL-TIME COURSES1. FULL-TIME DIPLOMA COURSESA. <strong>Singapore</strong>-Cambridge GCE ‘O’Level HoldersThe following full-time courses are offered tostudents who are able to devote their time tostudy and who are not attending any part-timecourses or engaged in any employment, forremuneration or otherwise. The courses are ofthree-year duration. Applicants must offer thecombination of subjects, as shown in the entryrequirements table, taken at not more thantwo sittings of the <strong>Singapore</strong>-Cambridge GCE‘O’ Level examinations:Entry Requirements for Full-Time DiplomaCourses (<strong>Singapore</strong>-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level/ SPM / UEC)See Tables 1A & 1B.Other Requirements andConditionsApplicants who suffer from colourappreciation deficiency are not eligible for thefollowing courses:a) Applied Chemistry with PharmaceuticalScienceBiomedical ScienceBiotechnologyChemical EngineeringElectrical & Electronic EngineeringFood Science & TechnologyMarine Engineeringb) Applicants who suffer from either colourappreciation or hearing deficiency are noteligible to apply for the Diploma coursesin Aeronautical Engineering, AerospaceElectronics and Clean Energy.c) Applicants who suffer from hearingdeficiency are not eligible to apply forthe Diploma courses in Bioengineering,Mechanical Engineering, andMechatronics and Robotics.d) For the Diploma in Visual Effects andMotion Graphics course, applicantswith colour appreciation deficiency willbe required to attend an interview todetermine their suitability for admission tothe course.e) For the Diploma in Computer Engineeringcourse, applicants who suffer fromimpairments must be prepared to appearfor interviews and to undergo any manualdexterity or aptitude tests.f) Applicants suffering from epilepsy willbe referred by the medical panel to aDesignated Factory Doctor who willassess their fitness for courses.g) Nautical Studies CourseApplicants who wish to apply for thiscourse must ensure that they havegood eyesight (visual acuity: unaided of6/60 in both eyes and with visual aidsof 6/6 in the better eye and at least 6/9in the other eye) and must not sufferfrom colour appreciation deficiency.Applicants must show proof of havingpassed the Maritime and Port Authorityof <strong>Singapore</strong> (MPA) Sight Test which isconducted at the SP Optometry Centreor by General Practitioners.All international applicants must besponsored by a <strong>Singapore</strong> shippingcompany. Shortlisted candidates who are<strong>Singapore</strong>ans / <strong>Singapore</strong> PermanentResidents will be required to attend aninterview conducted by the <strong>Singapore</strong>Maritime Academy.B. <strong>Singapore</strong>-Cambridge GCE ‘A’Level HoldersApplicants with GCE ‘A’ Level qualificationwho meet the entry requirements stipulatedcan be considered for direct entry into thesecond year of the appropriate three-yearcourse, with bridging modules offered whendeemed necessary by the school concerned.Applicants must offer the combination ofsubjects, shown in Table 2, taken at not morethan two sittings of the same GCE ‘A’ Levelexamination. For all other courses, ‘A’ levelholders may apply for three-year coursestogether with GCE ‘O’ level holders. Thenumber of places offered depends very muchon vacancies in the existing courses.Entry Requirements for Full-Time DiplomaCourses (<strong>Singapore</strong> Cambridge GCE ‘A’ Level/ STPM / UEC)See Table 2.C. Higher National ITE Certificate(Higher NITEC) HoldersApplicants who have obtained the HigherNational ITE Certificate (Higher NITEC)and whose Grade Point Average (GPA) >=2.0 may apply for admission to the threeyearfull-time courses appropriate to theirqualification. Those with GPA >= 3.5 mayapply for admission to the two-year full-timecourses appropriate to their ITE qualificationwhere available.The entry qualifications are given in Table 3.D. National ITE Certificate (NITEC)HoldersApplicants who have obtained the National ITECertificate (NITEC) with Grade Point Average(GPA) >= 3.5 may apply for admission to thethree-year full-time courses appropriate totheir ITE qualification. They must also possessat least a GCE ‘N’ Level qualification.Applicants who have obtained the relevantNITEC with GPA < 3.5 but >= 3.0 may applyfor admission to the three-year full-timeDiplomas in Digital Animation and VisualEffects and Motion Graphics. They mustalso possess at least a GCE ‘N’ Levelqualification. Shortlisted candidates will berequired to attend and pass an aptitude testcum interview.The entry qualifications are given in Table 4.E. Full-Time Programme inNational Certificate inConstruction Supervision(NCCS)Applicants who have obtained the NationalCertificate in Construction Supervision (NCCS)may apply for admission to the appropriatefull-time diploma courses.The entry requirements are given in Table 5.F. International QualificationHoldersFor those with international qualificationsapplying to the Diploma courses, theirapplication will be assessed on its equivalenceto the General Certificate of Education(G.C.E.). Evidence of English Languageproficiency will be required.Applicants with qualifications from countriesnot listed in Table 6A are also invited to apply.2. FULL-TIME ADVANCEDDIPLOMA COURSEApplicants with an Engineering or Technologydiploma (from a polytechnic) with relevantwork experience in the aircraft / aerospaceindustry may apply for admission to theAdvanced Diploma in Aerospace Engineering& Management course. Such applicants mustalso be sponsored by their employers.The entry requirements are given in Table 7.Academic information 25
