Course AssessmentsAssessment in all of the modules will takethe form of in-course assessments (70%)and a semester examination (30%). As more organisations move into theInformation Technology areas, there is a needfor support personnel who can plan, implement,troubleshoot and manage computers andcomputer networks.Over the past few years, the Info-CommunicationDevelopment Authority (<strong>Singapore</strong>) had conductedseveral manpower surveys to gauge the need forInfo-Communication personnel. Their surveysshowed that one of the top skills most requiredis in the Computer and Networking Technologyareas. The survey also concluded that there is alack of such manpower in these areas.The Specialist Diploma in Computer Networkingoffered by the School seeks to address thisindustrial demand. This could translateinto more innovative and market driven energyproducts for consumers, like competitive energyprices and energy saving devices, etc.The Sustainable Energy Association of <strong>Singapore</strong>(SEAS) (previously <strong>Singapore</strong> Association forEnvironmental Occupational Health & SafetyCompanies - SAFEco) and the <strong>Singapore</strong><strong>Polytechnic</strong> jointly offers the Specialist Diploma inEnergy Efficiency and Management. This course isthe first of its kind in <strong>Singapore</strong>.For details on entry requirements, please referto the Admissions section of this prospectus.Career ProspectsGraduates can apply knowledge gainedfrom the course into the work place ofsuch organisations like energy technologyand services companies, manufacturingcompanies, electronics and engineeringcompanies, hotels etc. They will alsobe able to use the knowledge gainedfrom the course, for taking appropriateexaminations required for certified energymanagers/engineers, offered by professionalinstitutions.
