This isa one-year part-time online course. The targetedparticipants are Diploma/Degree holders whowish to acquire new skills in web development.Objectives/AimsThe course aims to equip participants with thenew technologies of web development. They can beinvolved in the areas of web design, webdevelopment and website administration.AssessmentThere are both in-course assessments andend-of-module assessments. The in-courseassessments are scheduled within thesemester and these include assignments,case studies, midterm tests and projects. Theend-of-module assessments are tests held atthe end of the semester.Participants will take the tests and presenttheir assignments, case studies or projectson SP campus. The schedule of the tests,assignments, case studies and projectpresentations will be released to the studentsin advance at the beginning of the semester.Course StructureParticipants will experience e-Learning anddirect instructor-student contact through thefollowing features of the course:• Weekly study guide• Flexible study time• 24-hour access to module materials• Online forum discussion for collaborativelearning• Online quiz for self assessment• Onsite tutorials or practical sessions at SPThe onsite tutorials or practical sessions arescheduled in advance. Participants will beinformed of the schedule at the beginning ofthe semester and there are about five sessionsper module.Computer Facilities/Hardware &Software RequirementsParticipants are expected to obtain allrequired software for the respective modules.Participants may, however, use the school’scomputing facilities during off-peak hours.Access to the Internet is mandatory (a normalISP account will suffice).
