Additional TestsSPECIAL TEST MENUIn addition to retrieving Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and viewing LiveData, you can use the Scan Tool to perform additional diagnostic tests, toview diagnostic and vehicle information stored in your vehicle's on-boardcomputer, and to configure the Scan Tool for your particular needs.SPECIAL TEST MENUAdditional tests are accessed through the“Special Test Menu.” The following functionsare available from the "Special Test Menu:"• O2 Sensor Test - Retrieves and displaysO2 sensor monitor test results from yourvehicle's on-board computer.• Non-Continuous Test - Retrieves anddisplays test results for emission-relatedpowertrain components and systems thatare not continuously monitored.• EVAP Leak Test - Performs a leak test forthe vehicle's EVAP system.1. Start the engine.2. Press and release the button.• The “Main Menu” displays.3. Use the UP and DOWN buttons,as necessary, to highlight Special Test,then press the ENTER button.• The “Special Test Menu” displays.O2 Sensor TestOBD2 regulations require that applicable vehicles monitor and test operationof the oxygen (O2) sensors to identify problems that can affect fuelefficiency and vehicle emissions. These tests are performed automaticallywhen engine operating conditions are within predefined limits. Results ofthese tests are stored in the on-board computer's memory.The O2 Sensor Test function lets you retrieve and view O2 sensormonitor test results for the most recently completed tests from yourvehicle's on-board computer.Vehicles are equipped with multiple O2 sensors. O2 sensors areinstalled both upstream of (before) and downstream of (after) theexhaust system Catalytic Converters. The name of an O2 sensoridentifies its location in the exhaust system.
