Appendix D – Construction StandardsSection D.2 Revisions to CDOT Standards Specifications for Road and Bridge ConstructionD.2.1 Revision of Section 105 – Control of WorkREVISION OF SECTION 105CONTROL OF WORKSubsection 105.03 shall include the following:Conformity to the Contract of all Hot Mix Asphalt, Item 403, will be determined by tests andevaluations of asphalt content, gradation and in-place density, and will be evaluated foracceptance, rejection.Delete subsection 105.04 and replaced with the following:105.04 Conformity to the Contract of Superpave Performance Graded Binders.Superpave Performance Graded binders shall meet all requirements of Subsection 702.01.The Contractor shall submit a Certificate of Compliance from the supplier for all binder deliveredfor use on the project. The Certificate of Compliance shall be prepared in accordance withsubsection 106.12. A new Certificate of Compliance shall be prepared and submitted for eachnew lot or batch.In addition to the Certificate of Compliance the contractor shall submit a “Bill of Lading” for eachload of binder delivered for use on the project. Each “Bill of Lading” shall contain the lot orbatch number identical to that on the Certificate of Compliance.Binder that cannot be certified as complying with the requirements of Subsection 702.01 shallnot be incorporated into the project.Material which is obviously defective may be isolated and rejected without regard to samplingsequence or location within a lot or batch.Delete subsection 105.07 and replace with the following:105.07 Conformity to Roadway Smoothness Criteria. Roadway smoothness shall be testedas described below. Roadway smoothness testing will not be measured and paid forseparately, but shall be included in the work.All longitudinal and transverse pavement surfaces will be measured using a 10 footstraightedge. The Contractor shall furnish an approved 10 foot straightedge and depth gaugeand provide an operator to aid the Engineer in testing the finished pavement surface. Areas tobe measured shall be as directed by the Engineer. Areas showing high spots of more that 3/16inch in 10 feet shall be marked and diamond ground until the high spot does not exceed 3/16inch in 10 feet. Additional diamond grinding shall be performed as necessary to extend the areaground in each lateral direction so that the lateral limits of grinding are at a constant offset fromand parallel to the nearest lane line or pavement edge,Larimer County Rural Area Road Standards Page D-4October 22, 2007
