Appendix A – Definitions and AbbreviationsSection A.1 General Definitions and Abbreviationsƒ ITE – Institute of Transportation Engineers.ƒ Landscaping – Materials including, without limitation, grass, ground cover, shrubs,vines, trees, and non-living materials, commonly used in landscape development, aswell as attendant irrigation systems.ƒ Lane Width – The width of a travel lane measured from the centerline of the lanestriping to the centerline of the parallel lane stripe.ƒ Lift – The maximum specified thickness of material that may be placed at one time.ƒ Low Volume Access – Access with daily traffic volumes between 21 and 99 vehicles.ƒ May – A permissive condition.ƒ MUTCD – Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.ƒ Opinion of Cost (Cost Estimate) – Unit costs, based on those approved by LarimerCounty and assigned to materials and related quantities. The Opinion of Cost shall bebroken down by Phase, when applicable, for each project and shall be submitted by theDesigner at the time of first plan review by the Engineer.ƒ OSHA – Occupational Safety and Health Administration.ƒ Owner’s Engineer - A registered engineer (State of Colorado) acting for the Owner orDeveloper.ƒ P.C. – Point of curvature.ƒ Permittee – The holder of a valid permit issued in accordance with these Standards orother County related process.ƒ Phasing Plan – A plan that defines improvements to be completed in specified partsover a defined sequence.ƒ P.I. – Point of intersection.ƒ Plans – Construction plans signed by the County depicting public improvements to beconstructed for the project.ƒ Professional Engineer (P.E.) – A Colorado licensed professional engineer.ƒ Professional Land Surveyor (P.L.S.) – A Colorado licensed land surveyor.ƒ Project – The public or private improvement(s) designated in the approved plans, whichare to be constructed in conformance with these Standards. The term “Project” includesany and all public or private improvement projects for or within the Local Entity, whetherdevelopment projects, private utility projects, or capital improvement projects.ƒ Proposed Roadway Improvements – Those roadway improvements deemednecessary due to the impact of the project development.ƒ P.T. – Point of tangency.ƒ Public Improvement Construction Plans – Detailed and working plans including planand profile, details, notes and any other information necessary for complete constructionof the required improvements.
