Chapter 12 – Right of Way Permitting and Construction Standards for Facilities Located in Public Right of WaySection 12.4 Developing a “Quality” Approach to Road Repairs2. Avoid weakening or destroying the existing pavement around an excavation withheavy construction equipment, stockpiling or delivery of materials, etc. Whendamage does occur, remove the damaged pavement, extending the limits of theroad repair, before replacing the pavement. Remember, no stockpiling of backfillor road building materials is permitted on the pavement.a. When the proposed excavation falls within ten feet of a section of failedpavement, the failed area shall be removed to sound pavement and patched.Scarring, gouging, or other damaged pavement adjacent to a patch shall beremoved and the pavement repaired.NOT ACCEPTABLEACCEPTABLELess than 2’DamagedPavementPatchb.
