Appendix H – General NotesSection H.4 General Standard Notes for Construction Plans11. Signage, such as site entrance signs, will not be allowed within the ROW ofLarimer County roads that are external to and/or adjacent to the developmentconstruction project. Please note that all signs that are not a part of the approvedconstruction plans will require a separate sign permit from the Larimer CountyBuilding Department.12. The project materials testing engineer shall take asphalt cores. These cores shallbe taken to verify asphalt layer thickness and the thickness of the aggregatebase course. Asphalt cores should not be larger than 4 inches in diameter.Asphalt coring can be performed on the completed section once all lifts of asphalthave been placed. Asphalt coring frequency shall be, at a minimum, every 500feet across the centerline and at least one core for an auxiliary turn bay. All coredrilledholes shall be flow filled, vibrated and then topped with HBP orpermapatch material. permapatch.13. When improvements are made to Larimer County Roads, such as paving gravelroads, all survey monuments must be improved and upgraded per the State ofColorado standards. This may include, but is not necessarily limited to, raisingand upgrading monuments and the placement of a range box at each monument.14. All recommendations of the final geotechnical engineering study (name of thestudy and date) by (Engineering Firm) shall be followed and implemented.D. Traffic Signing and Pavement Marking Construction Notes1. Prior to the commencement of any construction that will affect traffic signs of anytype; the contractor shall contact the Larimer County Engineering Department.2. The Developer is responsible for all costs for the initial installation of trafficsigning and striping for the Development3. All symbols, including arrows, ONLYS, crosswalks, stop bars, etc. shall be 0.125mil pre-formed thermo-plastic.4. All lane lines for asphalt pavement shall receive one coat of latex paint with glassbeads, unless otherwise specified by the Engineer and/or in these plans.5. All lane lines for concrete pavement should be epoxy paint.6. Prior to permanent installation of traffic striping and symbols, the Developer shallplace temporary tabs or tape depicting alignment and placement of the same.Their placement shall be approved by the Larimer County EngineeringDepartment prior to permanent installation of striping and symbols.7. Pre-formed thermo-plastic applications and epoxy applications shall be appliedas specified in CDOT Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction.8. All surfaces shall be thoroughly cleaned prior to installation of striping ormarkings.9. All signage shall be per Larimer County Standards and these plans or asotherwise specified in MUTCD.10. A field inspection of location and installation of all signs shall be performed by theLarimer County Engineering Department. All discrepancies identified during thefield inspection must be corrected before the 2-year warranty period will begin.11. Signage and striping has been determined by information available at the time ofreview. Prior to initiation of the warranty period, the Engineer reserves the right torequire additional signage and/or striping if the Engineer determines that anunforeseen condition warrants such signage according to the MUTCD or theCDOT M and S Standards. All signage and striping shall fall under therequirements of the 2-year warranty period for new construction (except fair wearon traffic markings).14. Sleeves for sign posts shall be required for use in islands/medians.15. Roadside delineators shall be as specified in the MUTCD or the CDOT_M and SStandards.E. Storm Drainage Notes1. The Larimer County Engineering Department shall not be responsible for themaintenance of storm drainage facilities located on private property or indevelopments. Maintenance of onsite drainage facilities shall be theresponsibility of the property owner(s).2. All recommendations of the final drainage and erosion control study (name of thestudy and date) by (Engineering Firm) shall be followed and implemented.3. Prior to final inspection and acceptance by The Larimer County EngineeringDepartment, certification of the drainage facilities, by a registered engineer, mustbe submitted to and approved by the Engineering Department.F. Waterline Note1. The minimum cover over water lines is 4.5 feet and the maximum cover is 5.5feet unless otherwise noted in the plans and approved by the governing WaterUtility.Larimer County Rural Area Road Standards Page H-9October 22, 2007
