Chapter 12 – Right of Way Permitting and Construction Standards for Facilities Located in Public Right of WaySection 12.6 Inspectiond. Asphalt Pavement1) Asphalt content – One test per 500 tons or fraction thereof of mixproduced, minimum of one test per job.2) Gradation – Aggregate: one test per 500 tons or fraction thereof of mixproduced, minimum of one test per job.3) In-place density – One test per 500 tons or fraction thereof of mix placed,minimum of one test per job.e. Aggregate base course materials –One test per 400 lane feet. No less thantwo (2) tests per excavation.12.6 INSPECTIONAll construction work within the public rights-of-way shall be subject to inspection by theEngineer and certain types of work may have continuous inspection. It shall be theresponsibility of the Contractor to provide safe access for the inspector to perform the requiredinspections.It shall be the responsibility of the person performing the work authorized by the Permit to notifythe Engineer when the work is ready for inspection. The Engineer requires that every requestfor inspection is to be received at least twenty-four (24) hours before such inspection is desired.Such requests may be in writing or by telephoning or faxing the Engineer.The Engineer may make or require other inspections of any work as deemed necessary toascertain compliance with the provisions of these Standards. Any work performed without therequired inspections shall be subject to removal and replacement at the Contractor’s expense,regardless of the quality of the work.Where large scale projects exceed the ability of the County to provide inspection, the Contractoror utility company will incur the cost of a private inspection firm.
