GERMAR RUDOLF, RESISTANCE IS OBLIGATORY7. The Hoax of the Twentieth CenturyAlthough I have never published a German edition of this book, Inevertheless want to address it, as I published an updated new edition ofthe original English version of it in 2003. 191 Since the original indexingdecision of 1979 against this book had expired 25 years later, the BPjMrenewed its indexing decision by simply taking recourse to the old decisionand by adding a sweeping und unfounded accusation: 192 “Media ofthat nature […] serve exclusively to depict proven facts as incorrect.” Imay assert the following about that:a) No government is permitted to prescribe truth as “proven facts.”b) Any fact believed to be “proven” can and should be exposed to attemptsat refutation. The old indexing decision of 1979 even included an extended expertreport, which had been procured from the state attorney AdalbertRückerl. Today they do not make such a fuss anymore, but evidentlyban without taking any recourse to expertise. Why a state attorney can pose as an expert on historical booksevades me. In any case, in his expert report Rückerl merely feigned tohave seriously analyzed Butz’ book, because he does not address any ofButz’ arguments. He merely juxtaposes them with his own arguments, although they are of a completely different nature and are therefore incapableof affecting Butz’ way of arguing. Rückerl furthermore showswith his attempt at refutation that it is indeed necessary to deal with thecontents of Butz’ book. But an expert report shouldn’t even deal withthis, as the issue is merely a formal one about whether or not the analyzedwriting is scientific in nature. Finally the BPjM has posited well-nigh absurd criteria for the scientificnature of a book in its old indexing decision:They demanded, for instance, that a work on the extermination ofthe Jews has to “deal with […] the pseudo-scientific racial mania” ofNational Socialism. But that criterion is not even met by every work ofthe establishment. It is also incomprehensible why moral and ideologicalquestions have to be dealt with in a work of history. One could evenassume the opposite position, namely that ideological and moral ques-191 Arthur R.
