Finally, despite the wide range <strong>of</strong> the reported studies and varied literature, a conspicuouslack can be noticed within the Palestinian context. At the local level, and to the knowledge <strong>of</strong>the researcher, there is not any research study recorded up-to-date which is concerned withevaluating inservice training programmes for UNRWA English language teachers inparticular. Acknowledging such scarcity, this study tends to be a distinguished one for twomain reasons. Firstly, it aims to evaluate inservice training programmes provided forUNRWA English teachers in particular, secondly, this evaluation is conducted in the light <strong>of</strong>innovative principles collected and chosen through a careful study <strong>of</strong> contemporary trendswithin INSET literature.SummarySurfing literature in chapter two, the researcher has gained rich and deep insights on boththeoretical and practical aspects needed for designing the present study. <strong>The</strong> theoreticalframework laid the basis for what counted as successful INSET programmes. It helped theresearcher in going beyond INSET misconceptions, and passing all traditional boundariesthrough presenting innovative models and trends. Furthermore, the previous studies sectionprovided the complementary parts <strong>of</strong> the whole scene; it translated theory into practice byshowing how INSET programmes evaluation can be approached through practical steps,particularly, in relation to study tools. Finally, special attention was paid to every reviewedstudy‟s recommendations to make use <strong>of</strong> them in the following chapters.- 82 -
