Czerny, Carl 101—crash cymbal A single suspended cymbal that isstruck with a drumstick.czardas (chär′däsh). Another spelling ofCSÁRDÁS.Czerny (cher′nē), Carl, 1791–1857. An Austriancomposer and pianist remembered principallyfor his piano études, which are carefully designedto build up the student’s technique. AlthoughCzerny also composed a great deal of church musicand made hundreds of piano arrangements ofinstrumental works, it is mainly his teaching piecesthat have survived. Czerny himself studied withBeethoven, and his own most famous pupil wasLiszt.
