The average annual growth rate of passenger movementson interstate regional routes is projected to be 3.5 per cent, with the number projectedto increase from approximately 3.8 million in 2005 to 5.5 million in 2016.Figure 5.5 shows that the number of intrastate passenger movements on regional airroutes between major cities and regional areas in New South Wales are projectedto increase from approximately 1.7 million in 2005 to 1.9 million in 2016, an averageannual growth rate of 1.2 per cent.Intrastate passenger movements on regional air routes between regional areas inNew South Wales is projected to increase from about 132 000 in 2005 to 147 000 in2016, an average annual growth rate of 0.9 per cent (Figure 5.6).142
