Growth RequestsInitiative: Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) NurseTo increase the number of hours for the OSHA Nurse in order to conductadditional school audits; employee education; vaccinations; studentbloodborne; and First Aid Response training.Current Funding Formula:During the 2006-07 school year, Wake County Schools employed 8,091teachers. The system experienced a 6.25 percent growth rate, whichresulted in 506 new positions. In addition, the school system’s 9.36percent teacher turnover rate resulted in hiring 757 new teachers. Theschool system continues to see an increase in growth in employeesas well as the addition of 14 new schools during this budget projectionperiod.
