Default Production Rule for
Learner Classification
The mentoring system has default production rules
for learner classification and message construction.
The default production rules are shown in
Fig. 5.
An instructor should input only the number of
weeks to open his/her contents (N) and standard
learning time (minutes) of one content (X). Then
learners are classified into six categories:
• Delay 1: total login number < 2*N AND
total learning time < X*N min
• Delay 2: total login number < 2*N AND
number of more than X min learning < N/2
• Delay 3: total learning time < X*N min AND
number of more than X min learning < N/2
• Excellent 1: total login number < 2*N
• Excellent 2: total learning time < X*N
min OR number of more than X min learning
< N/2
• Excellent 3: NOT (total login number <
2*N OR total learning time < X*N min
OR number of more than X min learning
< N/2)
Learners in the status “Delay 1” did not perform
learning activities at all, ones in “Delay 2” learn
for a long period of time but only a few times, ones
in “Delay 3” learn for a very short period of time,
ones in “Excellent 1” learn only a few times, ones
in “Excellent 2” learn for a short time a few times,
and ones in “Excellent 3” learn very well.
It is possible to modify this default production
rule through mentoring settings interface
(Fig.6).
