SOLUTIONS AND
RECOMMENDATIONS
Results and Analysis
Case Study e-Feedback
A part of this study compared and contrasted the
clarity and depth of e-feedback for case studies
and discussion board contributions given by four
e-facilitators in the subject of Organisational
Behavior. Facilitators were required to provide
feedback according to a pre-determined set of
criteria.
Some qualitative examples illustrating the
degree of difference in feedback for case studies
are shown in Tables 1 and 2.
Facilitator 3 wrote the following paragraph
of e-feedback.
“I like what you have written on this Assignment
3.8, I just would like to see more of it. I tend to
grade somewhat on level of effort, and the amount
of discussion a student puts into their work. I am
looking for more comments, more analysis, and
more effort. Be sure to use a format which enables
you to examine and analyze the questions there
were presented in the unit. In summary: more
input = more points. You earned 70 points on this
The Impact of Quality E-Feedback as an Element of Social Learning Theory
Criteria e-Feedback Provided
Demonstrated the ability to communicate according to the normal conventions
with respect to language usage, grammar and referencing.
Demonstrated the ability to identify, select and use essential readings.
Included relevant supportive qualitative and/or quantitative data,
which were presented in a clear and integrated way.
Analyzed critically the issues using appropriate concepts and
methods.
You write well, but this is a professional paper and making a list is
not the same as a scholarly indepth analysis of the case.
You had a golden opportunity to use the Sources of Power literature,
the 10 Questions technique, the Root Cause analysis and other models,
but you did not use them.
You did not mention much to support your thinking.
You did not apply any models from the course.
The key elements of the topic were outlined and clearly justified. You did not list the key aspects of the case.
Conclusions were developed clearly, logically and concisely. You gave your opinion but you did not support it with any relevant
literature.
assignment. Some additional thoughts: 1) Overall,
I would encourage you to make more comments/
discussion/analysis in developing your answers
and case analysis. 2) I really would have liked
to see more references, an effort to expand your
knowledge with that research—the Internet is a
superb source that I would have liked to have
seen you use more. 3) I would have liked to have
seen you develop a good more comprehensive
summary or conclusion for this assignment--I
believe it helps review and confirm your learning,
to demonstrate you really know what you are
talking about in your paper.”
Discussion Board Feedback
This part of the study compared and contrasted the
clarity and depth of e-feedback given on discussion
board contributions during a four-week period in
the subject of Organisational Behavior. On the
giving of feedback, facilitators did not receive
any feedback guidelines or criteria beforehand.
Qualitative examples illustrating the degree of
difference in feedback for discussion board contributions
include the following:Facilitator 1:
“You need to involve yourself more in the class
by adding to the discussion, responding to posts
