is “Your learning time is short, so try to learn <strong>for</strong><br />

more than X minutes each time.”<br />

IF learning status is “Excellent 1” THEN message<br />

is “You learn very well. Try to access system<br />

more frequently.”<br />

IF learning status is “Excellent 2” THEN<br />

message is “You learn very well. Try to learn <strong>for</strong><br />

more than X minutes each time.”<br />

IF learning status is “Excellent 3” THEN<br />

message is “You learn very well. Keep up your<br />

After constructing messages, sending message<br />

module asks <strong>for</strong> the instructor’s approval (Fig.7).<br />

After the instructor approves these messages, all<br />

messages will be sent to learners’ e-mail addresses<br />

automatically.<br />

CASE STUDY 1<br />

We have used our system in a regular course <strong>for</strong> master<br />

students, results are shown in Table 1. Students<br />

can register <strong>for</strong> the course as learners through our<br />

LMS. However, they also need to <strong>for</strong>mally register<br />

<strong>for</strong> the course to get credits through administration<br />

<strong>of</strong>fice within three weeks. Thus we compare the<br />

results <strong>of</strong> learning activities only <strong>for</strong> students who<br />

registered <strong>for</strong> the course <strong>for</strong>mally. All learners<br />

attained excellent learning status by utilizing our<br />

mentoring system. However, it is not clear whether<br />

the system has an influence on learner’s decision to<br />

<strong>for</strong>mally resister <strong>for</strong> the course. It is necessary to<br />

study how to cope with this situation further.<br />
