<strong>705</strong><strong>Advanced</strong> <strong>Preparation</strong>: Cobundled Automation Rate <strong>and</strong> Presorted Rate Flats<strong>705</strong>.11.2.2f. Presorted rate pieces must contain a 5-digit barcode <strong>and</strong> be cobundled withautomation rate pieces for the same presort destination. If this optionalpreparation method is used, all automation rate <strong>and</strong> Presorted rate pieces inthe same mailing job <strong>and</strong> reported on the same postage statement must becobundled.g. Within a bundle, all pieces must meet the AFSM 100 requirements or all piecesmust meet the UFSM 1000 requirements described in 301.3.0.h. Mailers must sort Presorted rate pieces <strong>and</strong> automation rate pieces for eachpresort destination so that only one physical bundle for each logical presortdestination (see 707.18.4aa.) includes both automation rate pieces (containinga ZIP+4 or delivery point barcode) <strong>and</strong> Presorted rate pieces (containing a5-digit barcode).11.2.2 Bundle <strong>Preparation</strong>[7-6-06] <strong>Preparation</strong> sequence, bundle size, <strong>and</strong> labeling:a. Firm, optional for Presorted rate pieces only under 707.22.3, two-pieceminimum; blue Label F or optional endorsement line (OEL).b. 5-digit scheme, optional under 10.0, <strong>Preparation</strong> for Merged Containerizationof Bundles of Flats Using City State Product, required under 12.0, <strong>Preparation</strong>of Merged Palletization of Bundles of Flats Using a 5% Threshold, <strong>and</strong> 13.0,<strong>Preparation</strong> of Merged Palletization of Bundles of Flats Using the City StateProduct <strong>and</strong> a 5% Threshold; six-piece minimum, fewer pieces permitted under11.2.3; OEL required.c. 5-digit, required, six-piece minimum, fewer pieces permitted under 11.2.3; redLabel 5 or OEL.d. 3-digit scheme, optional under 10.0, required under 12.0 <strong>and</strong> 13.0; six-pieceminimum, fewer pieces permitted under 11.2.3; OEL required.e. 3-digit, required, six-piece minimum, fewer pieces permitted under 11.2.3;green Label 3 or OEL.f. Pieces in these low-volume bundles must be claimed at the basicrate. Low-volume bundles are permitted only when they are sacked or prepared onpallets as follows:a. Place low-volume 5-digit <strong>and</strong> 3-digit bundles in only 5-digit scheme, 5-digit,3-digit, <strong>and</strong> SCF sacks that contain at least 24 pieces; or in origin/entry SCFsacks; or on merged 5-digit scheme, 5-digit scheme, merged 5-digit, 5-digit,5-digit metro, 3-digit, or SCF pallets, as appropriate.Domestic Mail Manual Updated 3-15-07
