<strong>705</strong><strong>Advanced</strong> <strong>Preparation</strong>: Cotraying <strong>and</strong> Cosacking Bundles of Automation <strong>and</strong> Presorted Flats<strong>705</strong>.9.1.18.22 Parcel Post DDU RatesParcels may be bedloaded, sacked, or palletized. For purposes of this section theterm “pallets” includes preparation of parcels directly on pallets <strong>and</strong> preparation ofparcels in pallet boxes on pallets. There are no preparation or presort requirementsfor DDU rate mailings other than separation by 5-digit scheme <strong>and</strong> 5-digitdestination. Machinable <strong>and</strong> nonmachinable pieces may be <strong>com</strong>bined. Refer to theDrop Shipment Product maintained by the National Customer Support Center(NCSC) (see 608.8.0) <strong>and</strong> the information in 456.2.0, Parcel Select. If a DDU facilitycannot h<strong>and</strong>le pallets, <strong>and</strong> a mailer transports mail to the DDU facility on pallets, thedriver must unload the pallets into a container specified by the delivery unit. If piecesare sacked or palletized, they must be prepared to 5-digit scheme (optional) <strong>and</strong>5-digit destinations, <strong>and</strong> labeled as follows:a. 5-digit scheme sacks or pallets, optional; labeling:1. Line 1: use L606, Column B.2. Line 2: “PSVC PARCELS 5D SCH.”b. 5-digit sacks or pallets, labeling:1. Line 1: use city, state, <strong>and</strong> 5-digit ZIP Code destination of pieces.2. Line 2: “PSVC PARCELS 5D.”9.0 <strong>Preparation</strong> for Cotraying <strong>and</strong> Cosacking Bundles ofAutomation <strong>and</strong> Presorted Flats9.1 First-Class Mail9.1.1 Basic St<strong>and</strong>ardsBundles of flats in an automation rate mailing prepared under 335.6.5 must becotrayed with bundles of flats in a Presorted rate mailing under the followingconditions:a.The automation rate pieces <strong>and</strong> Presorted rate pieces are part of the same mailingjob <strong>and</strong> reported on the same postage statement.b. Pieces in the automation rate mailing must meet the criteria for a flat under301.3.0. Pieces in the Presorted rate mailing must meet the criteria for a flatunder 301.1.1.c. The automation rate mailing must meet the eligibility criteria in 333.5.0, exceptthat the traying criteria in 9.1.4 must be met rather than the traying criteria in335.6.0.d. The Presorted rate mailing must meet the eligibility criteria in 333.3.0, exceptthat the traying <strong>and</strong> documentation criteria in 9.1.1 <strong>and</strong> 9.1.4 must be metrather than the traying <strong>and</strong> documentation criteria in 335.6.0.e. The rates for pieces in the automation rate mailing are applied based on thelevel of bundle to which they are sorted under 333.5.3, Rate Application—Bundle-Based Flats, <strong>and</strong> 333.5.4, Rate Application—Tray-Based Flats.f. The pieces must be marked according to 302.Domestic Mail Manual Updated 3-15-07
