<strong>705</strong><strong>Advanced</strong> <strong>Preparation</strong>: Plant-Verified Drop Shipment<strong>705</strong>.15.2.10PVDS to the destination <strong>USPS</strong> facility. The form must be submitted in duplicate, orin triplicate if the mailer desires a signed <strong>and</strong> dated copy returned to itsrepresentative when depositing the mail at the destination <strong>USPS</strong> facility. Form 8125is not required for PVDS sent via Express Mail or Priority Mail drop shipment.15.2.10 Facsimile Forms 8125 <strong>and</strong> 8125-CFacsimile Forms 8125 may be used in lieu of the <strong>USPS</strong> form. Formats must beapproved in advance by the district manager of Business Mail Entry or designee.Formats must include all required information, including the correct title (precededby the word “facsimile”) <strong>and</strong> edition date, in locations as close as possible to wherethey appear on the <strong>USPS</strong> form. Data fields that do not pertain to information relatingto the PVDS, <strong>and</strong> other extraneous information that appears on the <strong>USPS</strong> form, donot have to be included. Form 8125-C must always be <strong>com</strong>puter-generated. Form8125-C may omit the “Number of Pieces” <strong>and</strong> “Piece Weight” columns for mailingsprepared in sacks, trays, or on pallets if there is sufficient information for the originpost office <strong>and</strong> destination <strong>USPS</strong> facility to identify the mailings <strong>and</strong> to <strong>com</strong>pare theinformation on the form with the physical mail. The mailer must report the number ofpieces in each mailing on Form 8125-C if the mailings consist of individualmailpieces that are not prepared in containers (e.g., bedloaded parcels). Formailings consisting of identical-weight pieces, mailers should report the pieceweight where possible.15.2.11 Mailer Transport of PVDSUsing any means of transportation, including Express Mail or Priority Mail dropshipment, the mailer must transport PVDS mailings from origin to the destination<strong>USPS</strong> facility. The mailer must not transport PVDS mailings on the same vehicle withshipments not entered as PVDS. For St<strong>and</strong>ard Mail <strong>and</strong> Package Services PVDS,the mailer must meet the scheduling st<strong>and</strong>ards for mail deposit at destination <strong>USPS</strong>facilities. If a vehicle contains mail paid at Parcel Select rates, the applicablest<strong>and</strong>ards for scheduling of deposits <strong>and</strong> unloading of vehicles apply to any othermail on the same vehicle for the same destination <strong>USPS</strong> facility. Any materialclassified as hazardous under 601.10.0 may not be carried in the same vehicle asPVDS mailings.15.2.12 Separation of PVDS MailingsWhen a vehicle contains more than one PVDS for a single destination <strong>USPS</strong> facility,the shipments must be separated to allow reconciliation with each ac<strong>com</strong>panyingForm 8125. Vehicles containing shipments for multiple destination <strong>USPS</strong> facilitiesmust be kept physically separated. Where applicable, a single Form 8125 thatidentifies all the mail for a single facility must be prepared for a shipment ofcopalletized or <strong>com</strong>bined mailings.15.3 LiabilityThe mailer assumes all responsibility <strong>and</strong> liability for any loss or damage to PVDSmailings before they are deposited <strong>and</strong> accepted as mail at destination <strong>USPS</strong>facilities, including third party transportation.Domestic Mail Manual Updated 3-15-07
