Combined mailings. Nonprofit St<strong>and</strong>ard Mail may be included in the samemailing or palletized on the same pallet as regular St<strong>and</strong>ard Mail only aspermitted by st<strong>and</strong>ard.b. Destination Delivery Unit rates. Pieces claimed at destination delivery unit ratesdo not require separation from pieces claimed at other rates on the same pallet.c. Carrier route mail on separate 5-digit pallets. Carrier route rate pieces must beprepared on separate 5-digit pallets (5-digit carrier routes or 5-digit schemecarrier routes pallets) from automation rate <strong>and</strong>/or Presorted rate pieces(prepared on 5-digit pallets or 5-digit scheme pallets). Exception: When flat-sizepieces are prepared as bundles on pallets under 10.0, 12.0, or 13.0, thencarrier route sorted mail, 5-digit sorted automation rate mail, <strong>and</strong> 5-digit sortedPresorted rate mail may be placed on the same merged 5-digit pallet or on thesame merged 5-digit scheme pallet for those 5-digit ZIP Codes for which 1)there are “A” or “C” indicators in the City State Product under 10.0, or 2) the5-digit bundles are within the 5% threshold requirement under 12.0, or 3) the5-digit bundles are either all for 5-digit ZIP Codes that have an “A” or “C”indicator in the City State Product, or are for 5-digit ZIP Codes with a “B” or “D”indicator in the City State Product <strong>and</strong> the pieces in such 5-digit bundles meetthe 5% threshold under 13.0.8.14.3 BMC <strong>and</strong> Mixed BMC PalletsBundles placed on BMC pallets must be machinable on BMC parcel sortingequipment. Line 2 on pallet labels must reflect the processing category of thepieces. A BMC or mixed BMC (trays <strong>and</strong> sacks only) pallet may include pieces thatare eligible for the DBMC rate <strong>and</strong> others that are ineligible.8.14.4 Commingled ZonesPieces of Package Services for different zones may be <strong>com</strong>mingled only under455.4.1.4 for Parcel Post parcels or 365.5.3.3 or 365.6.3.3 for Bound PrintedMatter flats or 465.5.1.3 or 465.6.1.3 for Bound Printed Matter parcels.8.14.5 Securing TraysTrays must be sleeved <strong>and</strong> strapped under 235.3.0 for First-Class Mail letters,245.3.0 for St<strong>and</strong>ard Mail letters, 335.3.0 for First-Class Mail flats, 345.3.0 forSt<strong>and</strong>ard Mail flats, 365.3.0 for Bound Printed Matter flats, 375.3.0 for Media Mailflats, 385.3.0 for Library Mail flats, except that strapping is not required for any lettertray placed on a 5-digit, 3-digit, or SCF pallet secured with stretchwrap. In addition,if the processing <strong>and</strong> distribution manager gives a written waiver, strapping is notrequired for any letter tray that originates <strong>and</strong> destinates in the same SCF (mailprocessing plant) service area.Domestic Mail Manual Updated 3-15-07
