If sacks prepared under 455.4.0, <strong>Preparation</strong> for Parcel Post, areincluded in the same mailing as pallets prepared under this section, at the timeof acceptance the mailer must separate sacks that are overflow from palletizedmail from those sacks that were prepared under the provisions of 455.4.0.8.20.2 Alternate <strong>Preparation</strong>, Parcels on PalletsDSCF rate mailings not prepared under 8.20.1 may be prepared as follows:a. General. All DSCF rate mail in the mailing must be sorted to 5-digit scheme,5-digit, or 3-digit destinations under 8.20.2 (i.e., mail prepared under 8.20.1<strong>and</strong> mail sacked under 455.4.0 must not be included in a mailing preparedunder 8.20.2). For purposes of this section, the term “pallets” includespreparation of parcels directly on pallets <strong>and</strong> in pallet boxes on pallets.Machinable <strong>and</strong> nonmachinable pieces may be <strong>com</strong>bined on the same pallet.Double-stacking is permitted if the requirements of 8.3 are met.b. Minimum volume. To qualify for the DSCF rate, no pallet may contain fewer than35 pieces <strong>and</strong> 200 pounds, <strong>and</strong> for the entire mailing the average number ofDSCF rate pieces per 5-digit scheme, 5-digit, or 3-digit destination must be atleast 50.c. Overflow. After filling pallets to a 5-digit scheme, 5-digit, or 3-digit destination,any remaining pieces that do not meet the minimum pallet requirements may beprepared in one or both of the following ways:1. Placed in 5-digit scheme, 5-digit, or 3-digit overflow sacks (no minimumnumber of pieces per sack) that are labeled in accordance with the DSCFsacking requirements in 455.4.0. Overflow pieces sacked in this mannerare eligible for the DSCF rates.2. Placed on a 5-digit scheme, 5-digit, or 3-digit pallet labeled under 8.20.2dthat does not meet the minimums for the DSCF rate. Overflow piecespalletized in this manner are not eligible for the DSCF rates but are eligiblefor the DBMC rates.d. 5-digit scheme. Pallet labeling:1. Line 1: use L606, Column B.2.
