<strong>705</strong><strong>Advanced</strong> <strong>Preparation</strong>: Combining Package Service Parcels for Destination Entry<strong>705</strong>.7.1.2shipment <strong>and</strong> must meet the minimum volume requirements for Presort rates <strong>and</strong>Parcel Select rates. Combined Package Services mailings must meet the st<strong>and</strong>ardsin 456.2.0 <strong>and</strong> 466.2.0 through 466.5.0, except as provided by this section. Mailersmay not <strong>com</strong>bine Carrier Route Bound Printed Matter with other parcels underthese st<strong>and</strong>ards. Parcels entered at SCFs <strong>and</strong> DDUs under these st<strong>and</strong>ards are noteligible for the barcode discount.7.1.2 Basic St<strong>and</strong>ards[1-4-07] Package Services parcels that qualify as machinable, nonmachinable, <strong>and</strong>irregular under 401 <strong>and</strong> meet the following conditions may be <strong>com</strong>bined in 5-digitscheme <strong>and</strong> 5-digit sacks or 5-digit scheme <strong>and</strong> 5-digit pallets under theseconditions:a. Minimum volume requirements for Parcel Select, Presorted Bound PrintedMatter, Presorted Library Mail, <strong>and</strong> Presorted Media Mail must be metseparately before <strong>com</strong>bining.b. <strong>Postage</strong> must be paid via permit imprint under an approved manifest mailingsystem as provided in 3.0. For mailings presented under 7.0, mailers maydocument <strong>and</strong> pay postage using the Electronic Verification System (eVS)under 2.9.c. All parcels must be prepared in sacks under 7.2 or on pallets under 7.3. Formail entered at the DSCF rates, pallet preparation is not permitted for 5-digitZIP Codes that are unable to h<strong>and</strong>le pallets. Refer to the Drop Ship Productmaintained by the National Customer Support Center (NCSC) (see 608.8.0 foraddress) to determine which 5-digit delivery facilities can h<strong>and</strong>le pallets. If aDDU facility cannot h<strong>and</strong>le pallets, <strong>and</strong> a mailer transports mail to the DDUfacility on pallets, the driver will have to unload the pallets into a containerspecified by the delivery unit.d. Pieces may be claimed at single-piece rates, Presorted rates, <strong>and</strong> destinationentry rates under 7.2.1 or 7.1.6.e. Separate postage statements must be prepared for each subclass <strong>and</strong>destination entry rate as appropriate.f. The deposit of <strong>com</strong>bined Package Services at a DSCF or DDU must be inaccordance with applicable drop shipment st<strong>and</strong>ards.7.1.3 Combined Parcels Prepared in Sacks—Rate Eligibility[4-13-06] In addition to the applicable st<strong>and</strong>ards in 456.2.0 <strong>and</strong> 466.2.0 through466.5.0 for destination entry Package Services, the following st<strong>and</strong>ards apply for<strong>com</strong>bined Package Services mail prepared in sacks:a. Parcel Select DSCF rates apply to parcels that are contained in 5-digit scheme<strong>and</strong> 5-digit sacks, each containing at least 10 pieces of any <strong>com</strong>bination ofPackage Services, or contained in overflow sacks under 7.2.2, provided allother requirements for the DSCF rate in 456.2.0 are met. Parcel Select DDUrates apply to parcels that are contained in 5-digit scheme <strong>and</strong> 5-digit sacks,each containing at least 10 pieces of any <strong>com</strong>bination of Package Services, orcontained in overflow sacks under 7.2.2, provided all other requirements for theDDU rate in 456.2.0 are met.Domestic Mail Manual Updated 3-15-07
