Place low-volume 5-digit scheme <strong>and</strong> 3-digit scheme bundles in only 5-digitscheme, 3-digit, <strong>and</strong> SCF sacks that contain at least 24 pieces, or inorigin/entry SCF sacks, or on 3-digit or SCF pallets, as appropriate.11.3 St<strong>and</strong>ard Mail11.3.1 Basic St<strong>and</strong>ardsMailers may choose to cobundle (see 345.1.4u.) automation rate <strong>and</strong> Presorted rateflat-size pieces as an option to the basic bundling requirements in 345.5.0 <strong>and</strong>345.7.0. Mailing jobs consisting entirely of AFSM 100-<strong>com</strong>patible pieces meetingthe criteria in 301.3.3 may be prepared in 5-digit scheme bundles using L007 <strong>and</strong>3-digit scheme bundles using L008. Five-digit scheme <strong>and</strong> 3-digit scheme bundlesmust also meet the additional st<strong>and</strong>ards in 345.1.4f. Mailing jobs prepared using the5-digit scheme <strong>and</strong>/or 3-digit scheme bundle option must be sacked under 10.0 orpalletized under 10.0, 12.0, or 13.0. All bundles are subject to the followingconditions:a. The pieces in the automation rate mailing <strong>and</strong> the Presorted rate mailing mustbe part of the same mailing job <strong>and</strong> must be reported on the appropriatepostage statement.b. The pieces in the mailing job must be flat-size <strong>and</strong> meet any other size <strong>and</strong>mailpiece design requirements applicable to the rate category for which they areprepared.c. Mailings prepared in sacks must meet the basic st<strong>and</strong>ards in 9.0 or 10.0.d. Mailings prepared on pallets must meet the basic st<strong>and</strong>ards in 8.0, 10.0, 12.0,or 13.0.e. A minimum of 200 pieces or 50 pounds of automation rate pieces are required;the Presorted rate mailing may meet the residual volume requirements in343.3.6. The total number of automation rate <strong>and</strong> Presorted rate pieces mustbe used to meet the minimum volume requirements for bundles <strong>and</strong> containers.f. Presorted rate pieces must contain a 5-digit barcode <strong>and</strong> be cobundled withautomation rate pieces for the same presort destination. If this optionalpreparation method is used, all automation rate <strong>and</strong> Presorted rate pieces in thesame mailing job <strong>and</strong> reported on the same postage statement must becobundled.g. Within a bundle, all pieces must meet the AFSM 100 requirements or all piecesmust meet the UFSM 1000 requirements described in 301.3.0.h. Mailers must sort Presorted rate pieces <strong>and</strong> automation rate pieces for eachpresort destination so that only one physical bundle for each logical presortdestination (see 345.1.4t.) includes both Presorted rate pieces (containing a5-digit barcode) <strong>and</strong> automation rate pieces (containing a ZIP+4 or deliverypoint barcode).11.3.2 Bundle <strong>Preparation</strong><strong>Preparation</strong> sequence, bundle size, <strong>and</strong> labeling:a. 5-digit scheme, optional:Domestic Mail Manual Updated 3-15-07
