224.-(1) Where any court imposes on a person a fine for an offence under thisAct in relation to which an alternative of imprisonment is not specified, thenthe court may order that person, in default of payment of the fine, to beimprisoned for a term not exceeding-(a) six months, where the fine imposed does not exceed one thousanddollars;(b) twelve months, where the fine imposed exceeds one thousanddollars.140
2005(2) Where any person is convicted of an offence under this Actinvolving intent to defraud, then the maximum fine which may beimposed on such person shall be double that otherwise provided underthis Act.(3) Where any person is convicted of an offence under this Act andis liable to a fine of five hundred dollars or more and the person haspreviously been convicted of an offence under this Act or haspreviously been ordered to pay any sum of money under Part XVIIIand the order has been enforced by any court, then the court beforewhich the person is so convicted may order the person to beimprisoned for any term not exceeding three years, or to pay the fineto which he or she is so liable, or to both imprisonment and fine.(4) Where any offence under this Act is committed by a bodycorporate and it is proved that such offence has been committed withthe consent or connivance of, or is attributable to any neglect on thepart of, any director, manager, secretary, or similar officer, of the bodycorporate, or any person purporting to act in any such capacity, then heor she as well as the body corporate shall be deemed to havecommitted that offence and shall be liable to be proceeded against andpunished accordingly.225.-(1) A person charged with an offence under this Act may beproceeded against, tried, and punished, in any place in which he or shemay be in custody for that offence as if the offence had beencommitted in such place; and the offence shall for all purposesincidental to, or consequential upon, the prosecution, trial, orpunishment, thereof be deemed to have been committed in that place:Place oftrialProvided that nothing in this section shall preclude theprosecution, trial, and punishment, of the person in any place inwhich, but for the provisions of this section, the person mighthave been prosecuted, tried, and punished.(2) Notwithstanding subsection (1), a person charged with anoffence under this Act may apply to be tried in another place other thanthe place in which the offence was committed.226.-(1) It shall not be a requirement in any proceedings under thisAct to disclose the fact that any person received any information141Protectionofwitnesses
