No. 1 <strong>East</strong> <strong>African</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>Customs</strong> <strong>Management</strong> 2005Exchangeof informationandcommonbordercontrols10.-(1) The Commissioners shall furnish each other with suchinformation, certificate, official report or document on matters relatingto -(a) prevention, investigation and suppression of offences underthis <strong>Act</strong>; and(b) any other relevant information relating to customs.(2) The Commissioners shall establish common border posts, carryout joint customs controls and take joint steps as may be deemedappropriate to ensure that goods exported or imported throughcommon frontiers pass through the competent and recognised <strong>Customs</strong>offices and along approved routes.(3) Subject to reciprocal arrangements agreed upon by theCommissioner, the Commissioner may request from, or furnish to, thecompetent authorities of a foreign state any information, certificate,official report or other document in order to prevent, investigate orsuppress offences against the laws applicable to the importation orexportation of goods into or from the territory of such foreign state.Appointmentof ports,etc.11. -(1) The Council may, by notice in the Gazette, appoint and fixthe limits of-(a) ports;(b) <strong>Customs</strong> airports;(c) places of loading and unloading within ports.(2) Ports, <strong>Customs</strong> airports, and places of loading and unloading,may be appointed for specified limited purposes.Appointmentof<strong>Customs</strong>areas12.-(1) The Commissioner may, by notice in the Gazette, appoint-(a) boarding stations;(b) <strong>Customs</strong> areas;(c) sufferance wharves;(d) places for the landing and embarkation of persons;24
