No. 1 East African Community Customs Management 2005(c) inspect the premises of the owner of the goods or any otherplace of the person directly or indirectly involved in theoperations; and(d) examine the goods where it is possible for the goods to beproduced.237.-(1) Where under this Act any declaration is required orauthorised to be made, the declaration may be made before any judge,magistrate, justice of the peace, notary public, or Commissioner foroaths, or before any officer authorised by the Commissioner for thatpurpose.(2) Where under this Act any document is required or authorised tobe signed in the presence of the Commissioner, where the document issigned in the presence of a witness who is approved by, and whosesignature is known to, the Commissioner or any other officerauthorized by the Commissioner, the document shall be deemed for thepurposes of this Act to have been signed in the presence of theCommissioner.238. Where any person requires a receipt for any money paid andbrought to account in respect of any entry, that person shall furnish theproper officer with an additional copy, marked as such, of the entry andthe additional copy duly signed by the proper officer andacknowledging receipt of the money shall be given to that person andshall constitute the receipt for the payment.239.-(1) Where under this Act any notice or other document isrequired or authorised to be served on or given or delivered to, theCommissioner or any other officer, the notice or other document maybe served, given or delivered-Provisionsrelatingto declarationsand signatureReceiptsfor paymentonentryServiceofnotices,etc.(a) by delivering it personally to the Commissioner;(b) by leaving it at the office of the Commissioner;(c) by sending it by post to the Commissioner; or(d) by any other means of transmission of documents providedfor under Partner State legislation.147
