fearfully against you. <strong>You</strong> are poor, and miserable, and blind, and naked. While evilis increasing and taking deep root, it is choking <strong>the</strong> good seed which has been sownin <strong>the</strong> heart; and soon <strong>the</strong> word that was given concerning Eli’s house will be spokento <strong>the</strong> angels of God concerning you: <strong>You</strong>r sins “shall not be purged with sacrificenor offering <strong>for</strong>ever.” Many, I saw, were flattering <strong>the</strong>mselves that <strong>the</strong>y were goodChristians, who have not a single ray of light from Jesus. They know not what it isto be renewed by <strong>the</strong> grace of God. They have no living experience <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong>mselves in<strong>the</strong> things of God. They were also taught that<strong>the</strong> widows and fa<strong>the</strong>rless had a claim upon <strong>the</strong>ir charity. Pure and undefiled religionis defined, To visit <strong>the</strong> widows and fa<strong>the</strong>rless in <strong>the</strong>ir affliction, and to keep unspottedfrom <strong>the</strong> world. I saw that this was not merely to sympathize with <strong>the</strong>m by com<strong>for</strong>tingwords in <strong>the</strong>ir affliction, but to aid <strong>the</strong>m, if needy, with our substance. <strong>You</strong>ng men andwomen to whom God has given health can obtain a great blessing by aiding <strong>the</strong> widowand <strong>the</strong> fa<strong>the</strong>rless in <strong>the</strong>ir affliction.
