Many who have no experience would have no idea of<strong>the</strong> magnitude of <strong>the</strong> enterprise and would want things to go according to <strong>the</strong>ir ideas.Some would wonder why <strong>the</strong> poor could not come and be treated <strong>for</strong> nothing, andwould be tempted to think that it was a money-making enterprise after all; and this oneand that one would wish to have something to say, and would have just about so muchfault to find, let matters go as <strong>the</strong>y might; <strong>for</strong> I was shown that some would consider it avirtue to be jealous and stand out and oppose. They pride <strong>the</strong>mselves on not receivingeverything just as soon as it comes. Like Thomas, <strong>the</strong>y boast of <strong>the</strong>ir unbelief. Butdid Jesus commend unbelieving Thomas? While granting him <strong>the</strong> evidence he haddeclared that he would have be<strong>for</strong>e believing, Jesus said unto him: “Thomas becausethou hast seen Me, thou hast believed: blessed are <strong>the</strong>y that have not seen, and yet havebelieved.”I was shown that <strong>the</strong>re is no lack of means among Sabbathkeeping Adventists. Atpresent <strong>the</strong>ir greatest danger is in <strong>the</strong>ir accumulations of property. Some are continuallyincreasing <strong>the</strong>ir cares and labors; <strong>the</strong>y are overcharged. The result is, God and <strong>the</strong>wants of His cause are nearly <strong>for</strong>gotten by <strong>the</strong>m; <strong>the</strong>y are spiritually dead. They arerequired to make a sacrifice to God, an offering. A sacrifice does not increase, butdecreases and consumes. Here, I was shown, was a worthy enterprise <strong>for</strong> God’s peopleto engage in, one in which <strong>the</strong>y can invest means to His glory and <strong>the</strong> advancementof His cause. Much of <strong>the</strong> means among our people is only proving an injury to thosewho are holding on to it.Our people should have an institution of <strong>the</strong>ir own, under <strong>the</strong>ir own control, <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong>benefit of <strong>the</strong> diseased and suffering among us who wish to have health and strengththat <strong>the</strong>y may glorify God in <strong>the</strong>ir bodies and spirits, which are His. Such an institution,rightly conducted, would be <strong>the</strong> means of492
