On such occasions parents and children should feel free from care, labor, andperplexity. Parents should become children with <strong>the</strong>ir children, making everythingas pleasant <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong>m as possible. Let <strong>the</strong> whole day be given to recreation. Exercise in<strong>the</strong> open air <strong>for</strong> those whose employment has been withindoors and sedentary will bebeneficial to health. All who can, should feel it a duty to pursue this course. Nothingwill be lost, but much gained. They can return to <strong>the</strong>ir occupations with new life andnew courage to engage in <strong>the</strong>ir labor with zeal, and <strong>the</strong>y are better prepared to resistdisease.I saw that but few realize <strong>the</strong> constant, wearing labor of those who are bearing<strong>the</strong> responsibilities of <strong>the</strong> work in <strong>the</strong> office. They are confined withindoors day afterday and week after week, while a constant strain upon <strong>the</strong> mental powers is surelyundermining <strong>the</strong>ir constitutions and lessening <strong>the</strong>ir hold on life. These brethren are indanger of breaking suddenly. They are not immortal, and without a change <strong>the</strong>y mustwear out and be lost to <strong>the</strong> work.We have precious gifts in Brethren A, B, and C. We cannot af<strong>for</strong>d to have <strong>the</strong>mruin <strong>the</strong>ir health through close confinement and incessant toil. Where can we find menwith <strong>the</strong>ir experience to supply <strong>the</strong>ir places? Two of <strong>the</strong>se brethren have been fourteenyears connected with <strong>the</strong> work in <strong>the</strong> office, laboring earnestly, conscientiously, andunselfishly <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> advancement of <strong>the</strong> cause of God. They have had scarcely anyvariation except what fevers and o<strong>the</strong>r sickness have given <strong>the</strong>m. They should have achange frequently, should often devote a day wholly to recreation with <strong>the</strong>ir families,who are almost entirely deprived of <strong>the</strong>ir society. All may not be able to leave <strong>the</strong> workat <strong>the</strong> same time; but <strong>the</strong>y should so arrange <strong>the</strong>ir work that one or two may go, leavingo<strong>the</strong>rs to supply <strong>the</strong>ir places, and <strong>the</strong>n let <strong>the</strong>se in <strong>the</strong>ir turn have <strong>the</strong> same opportunity.I saw that <strong>the</strong>se brethren, A, B, and C, should as a religious515
