must be removed from his earthly treasure, and placed upon <strong>the</strong> heavenly. By hisself-denial, God can be glorified. The great sacrifice has been made <strong>for</strong> man, and nowhe will be tested and proved to see if he will follow <strong>the</strong> example of Jesus, and make asacrifice <strong>for</strong> his fellow man. Satan and his angels are combined against <strong>the</strong> people ofGod; but Jesus is seeking to purify <strong>the</strong>m unto Himself. He requires <strong>the</strong>m to advanceHis work. God has deposited with His people in this world enough to carry <strong>for</strong>ward Hiswork without embarrassment, and it is His plan that <strong>the</strong> means which He has entrustedto <strong>the</strong>m be used judiciously. “Sell that ye have, and give alms,” is a part of God’ssacred word. The servants of God must arise, cry aloud, and spare not, “show Mypeople <strong>the</strong>ir transgression, and <strong>the</strong> house of Jacob <strong>the</strong>ir sins.” The work of God is tobecome more extensive, and if His people follow His counsel, <strong>the</strong>re will not be muchmeans in <strong>the</strong>ir possession to be consumed in <strong>the</strong> final conflagration. All will have laidup <strong>the</strong>ir treasure where moth and rust cannot corrupt; and <strong>the</strong> heart will not have a cordto bind it to earth.*****Chap. 35 - Lessons from <strong>the</strong> ParablesI was shown that <strong>the</strong> parable of <strong>the</strong> talents has not been fully understood. Thisimportant lesson was given to <strong>the</strong> disciples <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> benefit of Christians living in <strong>the</strong>last days. And <strong>the</strong>se talents do not represent merely <strong>the</strong> ability to preach and instructfrom <strong>the</strong> word of God. The parable applies to <strong>the</strong> temporal means which God hasentrusted to His people. Those to whom <strong>the</strong> five and <strong>the</strong> two talents were given, tradedand doubled that which was committed to <strong>the</strong>ir trust. God requires those who havepossessions here, to put <strong>the</strong>ir money out to usury <strong>for</strong> Him—to put it into <strong>the</strong> cause tospread <strong>the</strong> truth. And if <strong>the</strong> truth lives in <strong>the</strong> heart of <strong>the</strong> receiver, he also will aid withhis substance in197
