<strong>the</strong>y should learn of him as a pupil at school would learn of his teacher. They shouldnot go hi<strong>the</strong>r and thi<strong>the</strong>r, with no definite object or matured plans to carry out in <strong>the</strong>irlabor.Some who have but little experience, and are least qualified to teach <strong>the</strong> truth,are <strong>the</strong> last to ask advice and counsel of <strong>the</strong>ir experienced brethren. They put on <strong>the</strong>minister, and place <strong>the</strong>mselves on a level with those of long and tried experience, andare not satisfied unless <strong>the</strong>y can lead, thinking that because <strong>the</strong>y are ministers, <strong>the</strong>yknow all that is worth knowing. Such preachers certainly lack a true knowledge of<strong>the</strong>mselves. They do not possess becoming modesty and have altoge<strong>the</strong>r too high anopinion of <strong>the</strong>ir own abilities. Ministers of experience, who realize <strong>the</strong> sacrednessof <strong>the</strong> work, and feel <strong>the</strong> weight of <strong>the</strong> cause upon <strong>the</strong>m, are jealous of <strong>the</strong>mselves.They consider it a privilege to advise with <strong>the</strong>ir brethren and are not offended ifimprovements are suggested in <strong>the</strong>ir plans of labor or in <strong>the</strong>ir manner of speaking.Those ministers who have come out from <strong>the</strong> different denominations to embrace<strong>the</strong> third angel’s message often wish to teach when <strong>the</strong>y should be learners. Somehave a great share of <strong>the</strong>ir <strong>for</strong>mer teaching to unlearn be<strong>for</strong>e <strong>the</strong>y can fully learn <strong>the</strong>principles of present truth. Ministers will injure <strong>the</strong> cause of God by going <strong>for</strong>th tolabor <strong>for</strong> o<strong>the</strong>rs when <strong>the</strong>re is as great a work to be done <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong>m to fit <strong>the</strong>m <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong>irlabors as <strong>the</strong>y may wish to do <strong>for</strong> unbelievers. If <strong>the</strong>y are unqualified <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> work,it will require <strong>the</strong> labor of two or three faithful ministers to follow after and correct<strong>the</strong>ir wrong influence. In <strong>the</strong> end it would be cheaper <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> cause of God to give suchministers a good support to remain at home and do no injury in <strong>the</strong> field.Preachers have been regarded by some as especially inspired, as being onlymediums <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> Lord to speak through.
