He excites <strong>the</strong> organs which lead to slavish fears andjealousies which corrupt nobleness of soul and destroy elevated thoughts and feelings.Such persons are insane upon <strong>the</strong> subject of money. If <strong>the</strong>y would take <strong>the</strong> positionwhich God would have <strong>the</strong>m, <strong>the</strong>ir last days might be <strong>the</strong>ir best and happiest. Thosewho have children in whose honesty and judicious management <strong>the</strong>y have reason toconfide, should let <strong>the</strong>ir children make <strong>the</strong>m happy. Unless <strong>the</strong>y do this, Satan willtake advantage of <strong>the</strong>ir lack of mental strength and will manage <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong>m. They shouldlay aside anxiety and burdens, and occupy <strong>the</strong>ir time as happily as <strong>the</strong>y can, and beripening up <strong>for</strong> heaven.*****Chap. 78 - Extremes in DressWe do not think it in accordance with our faith to dress in <strong>the</strong> American costume, towear hoops, or to go to an extreme in wearing long dresses which sweep <strong>the</strong> sidewalksand streets. If women would wear <strong>the</strong>ir dresses so as to clear <strong>the</strong> filth of <strong>the</strong> streets aninch or two, <strong>the</strong>ir dresses would be modest, and <strong>the</strong>y could be kept clean much moreeasily, and would wear longer. Such a dress would be in accordance with our faith.I have received several letters from sisters inquiring my opinion in regard to wearingcorded skirts. These questions were answered in a letter which I sent to a sister inWisconsin.
