Number Fourteen Testimony <strong>for</strong><strong>the</strong> <strong>Church</strong>Chapter 109 - Publishing Personal <strong>Testimonies</strong>In Testimony No. 13 I gave a brief sketch of our labors and trials from December19, 1866, to October 21, 1867. In <strong>the</strong>se pages I will notice <strong>the</strong> less painful experienceof <strong>the</strong> past five months.During this time I have written many personal testimonies. And <strong>for</strong> many personswhom I have met in our field of labor during <strong>the</strong> past five months I have testimoniesstill to write as I find time and have strength, but just what my duty is in relation to<strong>the</strong>se personal testimonies has long been a matter of no small anxiety to me. With afew exceptions I have sent <strong>the</strong>m to <strong>the</strong> ones to whom <strong>the</strong>y related and have left <strong>the</strong>sepersons to dispose of <strong>the</strong>m as <strong>the</strong>y chose. The results have been various:1. Some have thankfully received <strong>the</strong> testimonies and have responded to <strong>the</strong>m ina good spirit and have profited by <strong>the</strong>m. These have been willing that <strong>the</strong>ir brethrenshould see <strong>the</strong> testimonies and have freely and fully confessed <strong>the</strong>ir faults.2. O<strong>the</strong>rs have acknowledged that <strong>the</strong> testimonies to <strong>the</strong>m were true, but afterreading <strong>the</strong>m have laid <strong>the</strong>m away to remain in silence, while <strong>the</strong>y have made but littlechange in <strong>the</strong>ir lives. These testimonies related more or less to <strong>the</strong> churches to which<strong>the</strong>se persons belonged, who could also have been630
